HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT?

If you have been involved in a car accident it is VERY important to be examined as quickly as possible in order to adequately assess and document any potential injuries and begin the necessary treatment. Dr. Peter V. Matrale has more than 12 years of experience in treating car accident patients to reduce the long term effects of soft tissue damage, disc herniations and nerve root injuries. We make all necessary referrals for diagnostic studies and medical evaluations to ensure car accident patients receive the most comprehensive course of care.  If applicable, we can also recommend an experienced  attorney and will work directly with their office to provide detailed and accurate treatment records documenting cause of injury and necessity of care.  Injuries sustained during an accident do not always appear immediately and you may not even be aware of their extent until you have been properly examined by a trained physician.  It can sometimes take 10 days or more for symptoms to appear!  Even minor accidents can cause pain and result in permanent injury.  Some of the most common symptoms associated with car accident injuries include neck pain, whiplash, dizziness, low back pain, chest pain, muscle soreness/stiffness, headaches, arm/leg pain, numbness/tingling, shoulder pain, radiating pain and more.

We document a detailed account of your accident, current symptoms and examination findings.  Referrals for X-rays and/or MRI studies are made to rule out any possible fractures or pathologies and provide diagnostic evidence of any disc herniations, nerve root pressure or significant soft tissue injury.  If other specialists are required for your care, such as an orthopedic surgeon, neurologist or pain management physician, those referrals will be made as well.

Our clinic has worked with several local attorneys experienced in accident related cases and can make the necessary referral if any injuries resulted from the negligence of another party.  We maintain detailed patient records consisting of all examination, diagnosis and treatment reports and will supply any pertinent information directly to the attorney’s office in order to make the process as stress free as possible for the patient.  Dr. Matrale’s extensive experience in personal injury care management enables him to provide an accurate injury assessment and personalized case review so that any potential damages for pain and suffering may be obtained.

ALL FLORIDA INSURED DRIVERS & PASSENGERS ARE COVERED FOR A MINIMUM OF $10,000 OF TREATMENT UNDER PERSONAL INJURY PROTECTION LAWS, BUT YOU MUST ACT FAST TO RECEIVE THESE BENEFITS!

Understandably, many people are concerned with the costs associated with treatment following an auto accident.  Florida state law requires MANDATORY Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage on EVERY automobile insurance policy written in the state.  Regardless of your insurance company, there is a minimum amount of $10,000 of mandatory coverage on every Florida auto insurance policy that may be used towards treatment expenses when someone has been involved in an accident. All drivers, passengers and pedestrians are eligible for these benefits, regardless of who was at fault. However, state law requires that those who have been in an accident initiate treatment within 14 DAYS of the date of an accident or all $10,000 worth of benefits will be forfeited.  It is VERY IMPORTANT to seek treatment AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you have been involved in car accident!

An initial visit to our office constitutes an initiation of treatment (even if you decide not to continue) and allows you to be eligible to receive the full amount of PIP benefits available.  If you have been involved in an car accident, be sure to contact our office as quickly as possible!  We will schedule you for the next available appointment and are always happy to answer any questions you may have regarding PIP benefits, accident injury treatment, attorney referrals, etc.

WERE YOU A PASSENGER IN AN ACCIDENT VEHICLE OR INVOLVED IN A HIT & RUN?

PIP benefits are available to passengers who were involved in accidents as well, even if they don’t have their own auto insurance policy.  PIP benefits may also be used for treatment if you were the victim of a hit and run or had an accident with something other than another vehicle (hit a sign, lane divider, building, drove off the road, etc.).  Contact our office if you have any questions about how to use PIP coverage under these circumstances.

WERE YOU A PEDESTRIAN OR STRUCK BY A VEHICLE WHILE OUTSIDE OF YOUR CAR?

If you were struck by a vehicle while walking on the street, standing in a parking lot or even sitting on a bench, you are still covered by PIP benefits as long as you have an active Florida auto insurance policy.  The same coverage applies if you were struck while using a form of transportation other than your own car such as a bike, motorcycle, scooter, rental car, friend's car, Uber, Lyft, etc.  PIP coverage benefits through a Florida auto insurance policy may be used for injury treatment even in accident circumstances that occurred while outside of your own car.  Contact our office if you have any questions about how to use PIP coverage for accidents that occurred while outside of your own vehicle.

WERE YOU AT FAULT IN AN ACCIDENT BUT NEED TO RECEIVE TREATMENT FOR INJURIES?

Regardless of if you were at fault (received a citation) for an accident or not, you are still eligible to use your PIP benefits for treatment.  At fault parties are just as likely to sustain the same types of injuries as someone in the vehicle which was struck and we can certainly handle these patient’s needs as well.  It is a violation of state law for an insurance carrier to increase the rates of an at fault party based solely on the use of PIP benefits.  Contact our office if you have any questions about how to use PIP coverage if you were at fault for an accident.

Don’t suffer any longer if you have been involved in a car accident, contact us IMMEDIATELY to schedule an appointment!
