Understandably, many people are concerned with the costs associated with treatment following an auto accident. Florida state law requires MANDATORY Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage on EVERY automobile insurance policy written in the state. However, state law requires that those who have been in an accident initiate treatment within 14 DAYS of the date of an accident or all $10,000 worth of benefits will be forfeited. The same coverage applies if you were struck while using a form of transportation other than your own car such as a bike, motorcycle, scooter, rental car, friend's car, Uber, Lyft, etc. PIP coverage benefits through a Florida auto insurance policy may be used for injury treatment even in accident circumstances that occurred while outside of your own car.
